Houston Salsa Dancers Sponsor Program

The objective of the Houston Salsa Dancers Sponsor Program is to get sponsorship for individuals to gain a full access pass to the 9th Annual Houston Salsa Congress 2012.

Sponsorship can be received by any individual, provided that he or she find a company willing to proffer sponsorship.

Those of you familiar with previous events know this is a dance event not to be missed! There will be over thirty hours of non-stop dancing, entertainment and fun. This year to help make the most of the Houston Salsa Congress and to encourage participation in our events, we have elected to employ the Houston Salsa Dancers Sponsor Program. Some individuals will be sponsored by Houston Salsa Dancers, Inc. once their application has been reviewed.

Sponsored dancers will be invited to participate in every aspect of the entire event, and the elements that they take part in (for example: the various workshops) will be recorded on an individual's dance card. Instructors will then sign the cards after the sponsored dancer has completed the workshop. This card will serve as proof to your sponsor of how many workshops the individual participated in throughout the event.

So whether you are taking part as a sponsored dancer or are sponsoring a dancer, you will be helping to make a significant contribution to the work carried out by Houston Salsa Dancers, Inc.

Bailando Hacia la Universidad/ Dancing your way to College
The Houston Salsa Congress sets aside a special exhibition in conjunction with the University of Houston which will be presented to high schools from Houston and surrounding areas. Houston Salsa Dancers, Inc. will host this one-day event during the Houston Salsa Congress called “Bailando Hacia la Universidad/ Dancing your way to College”. This activity will consist of educating students on college information such as financial aid and scholarships combined with dance performances from local, national and international performers to entertain and inspire the students.

Houston Salsa Dancers, Inc. eagerly encourages and supports higher education. It is our goal to see that all those who participate in the Houston Salsa Congress have the opportunity to continue to learn in the classroom as well as grow as dancers.

The Houston Salsa Congress is organized and operated by the volunteers of Houston Salsa Dancers, Inc. (“HSD”), which is an officially recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. HSD raises extra funds by hosting smaller-scale Salsa socials every month. Since the year 2000, HSD has helped dozens of students from the Houston area by awarding a cumulative total of over $25,000 in scholarships. During the Congress weekend, HSD also works with the University of Houston’s admissions office to present “Bailando Hacia La Universidad” (“Dancing Your Way to College”), which is a half-day forum providing information to high school students about college choices and financial aid.
