What’s does the Houston Salsa Congress Provides?
The Houston Salsa Congress hosted by the Houston Salsa Dancers Inc. is set out to educate others of the richness of Latin culture through dance. The Houston Salsa Congress provides a broad range of different salsa styles from different ethnic backgrounds and different geographical regions. The Houston Salsa Congress will consist of four days of dance exhibitions, dance workshops, and social dancing. This will provide an educational experience of the culture and diversity of several Latin dance styles for Houstonians of all ages. In conjunction with the Houston Salsa Congress, one day will be set aside for the University of Houston to provide assistance to high school and college students on an individual basis and provide valuable information about scholarships and financial aid.
Why do we need sponsorship?
Sponsorship monies are vital to fund yearly programs organized by the Houston Salsa Dancers Inc. Our primary aim is to provide community service, and monies will benefit the organization in several ways.
1. To assist with the funding of programs at the University of Houston such as Bailando Hacia la Universidad! (Dancing Your Way to College!)
2. The Houston Salsa Congress Inc. uses grants for the purpose of facilitating the educational and professional development of students, dancers, event participants, and the community at large. We encourage all of the aforementioned to apply for any of our yearly college scholarships which are awarded to qualified and deserving individuals every year. The Houston Salsa Dancers Inc. vigorously encourages and supports higher education.
3. To provide a diverse artistic and cultural experience in the form of Latin music and dance which occurs year round and takes center stage at the Houston Salsa Congress. This event raises awareness and promotes participation from a wide range of programs, which are highlighted during the event.
4. To help control event costs, so that even in tougher economic times we can maintain a high quality product that remains affordable to our many attendees.
5. To provide complimentary workshops for students who are currently enrolled in our enrichment dance programs at Elliot Elementary HISD, Waltrip High School HISD, Charles H. Milby High School HISD, and The University of Houston.
